Tazheeb – Illumination

Tazheeb is one of the most unique art forms in Iran. Derived from the Arabic word “zahab”, which means “gold”, tazheeb is the art of adorning books, calligraphies, and paintings with patterns that are delicate and intricate. Tazheeb is also called illumination or gilding, which consists of geometric floural patterns in gold color, hence the linguistic root of tazheeb.
